Food To Power: Hillside Hub
Designed to house the inspiring Food to Power non-profit, the building sits on an amazing plot of land in the Hillside neighborhood of Colorado Springs, most of which is allocated to their farming and composting practices. The program includes a demonstration kitchen, production space, and office space, as well as leveraging the amazing views to the south and west for the outdoor communal spaces. Flexibility of use in the floor plan was an important directive from the non-profit, which has manifested in the form of convertible spaces, a folding glass wall, a garage door, and generally as few dividing walls as possible.
Concrete floors, warm wood ceilings, white steel, distressed wood - all of these materials come together to great a hybrid of industrial/agriculture and warmer, residential feelings.
